OK, I know it’s now April and you’re wondering what the heck happened to my promise to post my round-ups each month. Work, volunteering, kids, parents, friends – in a nutshell, life just gets in the way sometimes! So better late than never, here are my favorites from all of the foodies I follow and their February posts. First, fromÂ your very own Cooking with Michele, my favorites were:
It may not look pretty, but this Puff Pastry “Pizza” is melt in your mouth good.A favorite when I teach Operation Frontline classes, Sweet Potato Hummus is different, healthy, and delicious.I don’t bake much, but sometimes surprise myself when it turns out as good as this Olive Oil Cake with Lemon and Thyme.Sage brown butter sauce completes this easy Butternut Squash Raviolimade from wonton wrappers. Note that in my original recipe I neglected to mention that the filling should be on the dry side – you may need to saute the squash to eliminate extra water before mixing it with the cheeses.Another quick weeknight meal, Pork Stew with Kale and White Beans is really savory.

From Heidi at 101cookbooks.com, I was inspired by this Simple Farro & Bean Stew.
Gluten Free Lemon and Almond Meltawaysfrom Cannelle et Vanille look like they could, well, melt in your mouth!
The Spinach and Feta Quesadillas offered up by Kevin at Closet Cooking have been calling me since I first saw the mouthwatering picture – need to make these soon! I’m also intrigued by the look and sound of this Korean BBQ Chicken recipe he shared.
I’m not a huge cornbread fan, but maybe it was the addition of cheese and garlic in the Cook local recipe for Cast Iron Garlic and Cheese Cornbread that caught my eye and sparked my salivary glands.
This has nothing to do with cooking, per se, but if you find yourself in Paris, this postfrom David Liebowitz might come in handy.
Chicken Palava (African peanut stew)? Never heard of it, but I love Kay’s blog and her food photos always entice, so I need to try this one soon.
Creamy Mushroom Chestnut Soupfrom Food Blogga. Cream – yum. Mushrooms – yum. Chestnuts – never thought of that, so just have to try this one for a dinner party.
The Sweet Potato Skins offered up by Erin at fresh365 look amazing – sports snack food done right!
Joy from Joylicious has gorgeous step by step photos of her version of Neil Perry’s Portobello Mushroom Risotto with Poached Shrimp – you’ll want to try this one for sure.
Baked pears with lemongrass, ginger and vanillafrom Bea over at La Tartine Gourmande are a wonderful example of how simple food can be sensational. (I also love her voice in her writing – you can just feel the love of a young mother.)
I like the fact thatÂ Anita andÂ CameronÂ over at Married…With Dinner challenge themselves to eat locally even during the dark days, and I’m jealous that their dark days aren’t as “dark” as things get here in Colorado. I’m also a sucker for Creamed Spinach.
I’m always amazed at the variety of things I find on the Rasa Malaysia site, and can’t wait for the cookbook. Last month alone I was salivating over the Crab Noodles,Â Broccoli and Scallops,Â Szechuan/Sichuan Roasted Chicken,Â and the Penang Curry Mee.
Kelly from Sass & Veracity had a tummy warming recipe for Blueberry Lemon Scones that I’m making for my next brunch.
Angie’s Spicy Pork Ribson seasaltwithfood might just invite vegetarians back to meat.
Deb (smitten kitchen) had some really tasty looking things posted in Feburary – Chocolate Souffle Cupcakes with Mint Cream, a Cauliflower and Caramelized Onion Tart, and Baked Rigatoni with Tiny MeatballsÂ made it to the top of my list.
I’m in love with the pigs from Sugar Creek Farm. I’ve never met them and haven’t eaten any pork from the farm, but the pictures tell the story.
The simplicity of Elaine’s (The Italian Dish) Chicken Ragu Sauce Over Orecchiette caught my eye and seems like an easy weeknight dinner.
Pasta with Bacon and Mushrooms – need I say more? This was my favorite post from Ree, the Pioneer Woman, in February.
I read Garrett’s posts (Vanilla Garlic) more for the humor than the actual recipes (see the hilarious post about Girl Scout cookies), but the recipe for the Chocolate Caramel Tart grabbed my attention immediately.
Beet Greens and Goat Cheese Crostini from The White on Rice Couple seems like an easy and different appetizer for any party.
If you’re looking for “fancy food” from a real chef, check out the Wild Mushroom Tart with GruyÃ¨re, Herb Salad & Balsamic Reduction and theÂ Wild Striped Bass with Farro, Black Rice, Spinach and Tangerine from Zen Can Cook.
