Quite some time ago I was approached by Bechara from Bagel Spice about trying their product to blog about it. You need to understand that food bloggers get approached constantly to test out products and write about them. It’s inexpensive marketing for the product companies, but unfortunately, all too often the products offered up aren’t really interesting to the food blogger. We like to cook, so that means we generally look for raw ingredients. Yet often we are asked to test out pre-packaged, processed foods. Doesn’t make sense, does it?Well, kudos to Bechara for finding something relevant. She had read my post about my Everything Bagel Bread, a healthier alternative to the calorie dense everything bagel, and correctly figured out that her spice blend would be perfect for that recipe.I finally got around to testing it out when I returned from Atlanta, and decided to alter my Traditional Irish Soda Bread recipe to include the Bagel Spice mix. I tossed into the dry ingredients about 3 handfuls of the spice mixture (about 3 tablespoons)……then mixed the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients, poured it into a greased loaf pan, and sprinkled more Bagel Spice on top. After the bread is cooked you’ll want to slice it, butter it, and eat it as fast as you can – it smells that good. And I challenge you to have just one slice. If you live in the Philadelphia area, you can buy Bagel Spice at a few stores there. The rest of us fortunately can buy it online. Did I mention the original version is salt free? I used that in the bread, but next time will use the variety with sea salt for the topping.

FCC Disclosure: I only blog about products I truly love. Bagel Spice provided the product to me free of charge to test and create this post.
