Tru Pickles – Truly the best kosher dill pickle!

May 20, 2011  •  Condiments, Local Sources

I don’t do many product endorsements. On occasion someone will send me a product that I try and love and I’ll blog about it. But rarely do I post random endorsements for something I love – so when I do, know that I really love it. Like these pickles. You might think it odd that my sister gave me a jar for Christmas last year. Well, that’s because she loves them so much she felt she needed to share. She found them – oddly – at Barnsley Tires in Boulder (rumor has it the owners are friends) where cases are on display amidst the tire selection. But just visit the Trü website and you can find all sorts of places who carry them – even mail order!

So what makes them special? They are classic kosher dill pickles, with an unbelievable crispness that they attribute to using grape leaves in the jar. Who knew? All I know is I love them, and my sister kindly split her case of them with me today. If you’re looking for me any time soon, I’ll be in the fridge sneaking out yet another pickle to snack on.

I used to make pickles when I was younger and had a huge garden that I canned from. I love bread and butter pickles and baby gherkins and more but I could NEVER get the Kosher dill pickles just right. They lost their crispness in the process of a hot water bath and for me…that was tantamount to losing everything.

I’ve not heard of this brand but I’m now anxious to try them…and must admit would have never thought of heading to a tire store in Boulder!

My sister, Michele, and I are both now happily addicted to Tru Pickles. Warning – if you decide to buy a jar, just face the inevitable & buy a case, because these are the most addictive kosher dills ever made! “Tru-ly” Janine

I can’t wait to try these. With your endorsement, I know they must be good. Your method of placing cucumbers in commerial brine that you really love reminds me of a fruit shop in the town in Texas where we used to live. They would peel large cucumbers and run a large wooden stick into them and marinate them in cold pickle juice. These were so good that they couldn’t keep them in stock. Along with their watermelon and pineapple kabobs sprinkled in chili powder, salt and lime. Oh, yum.

I love Tru Pickles too! I have bought them at markets in Littleton and they are unbelievable. Such a fresh, crisp taste. I agree with your endorsement!

I also have given jars of these pickles for gifts. They are the best pickles I’ve had since my grandmother passed away many years ago. I was thrilled to find them and though their price point is a bit high (for pickles) you can’t put a price on the flavor or the memories of what a really good pickle should taste like. I agree – cave in and buy a case. You will not regret it when you go to the fridge late at night and find that your son or significant other ate the last one. What they didn’t know is that you have a secret stash!
