Restaurant Roundup: Beast and Bottle

crudo with kohlrabi and green apple

I’ve been eating out a surprising amount lately, thanks to the many kind friends who have taken me under my wing during this difficult time while my husband recovers from a brain hemorrhage. I enjoy the company, spending so much time alone these days, and it’s a nice diversion from caregiving. I’ve eaten at Beast and Bottle for brunch many times – it’s one of my favorites – but some reason never got here for dinner. Well that was a mistake. The small plates are just perfect for sharing between two people. Order 2-3 per person depending on how heavy the items are and you’ll be quite satisfied. What I love about Beast and Bottle is that the dishes are creative, incorporating many ingredients and flavors you might not have thought to combine, without being overly fussy. We got lucky as walk-ins at 6:30 on a Saturday night, but the place was bustling so I’d highly recommend a reservation. And ps, if you like bread, note that you will be charged for it (European style I like to think), but it’s the oh-so-delicious baguette from Marczyk’s with salted creamy butter and you won’t be sorry!
lamb tartare with pistachios and green harissabison ravioli (you’ll want to order that baguette to soak up all of this sauce)quince garganelli with pine nuts, cabrales cheese, squash puree, and brussels sprouts
