Restaurant Roundup: Palizo and 2017 in Review

Fettuccine Amatriciana

Happy New Year! I had a long list of restaurants I wanted to try in 2017, but alas, if there was one thing I learned in 2017, it’s many things are completely out of my control. So yes, life got in the way, and I didn’t make it to very many new restaurants at all. I’m okay with that – there’s always 2018. At the bottom of this post are some of the places I want to try this year.

Osso Buco

Of the few new places I did try this year, it seems most were Italian. Whether that’s because so many of the good new restaurants happy to be Italian or because I have an affinity for Italian food, I don’t know. The last Italian one I went to was Palizo, which took over the 1472 space on Pearl St. in Denver.

Pappardelle Bolognese

I don’t know why, but I wasn’t expecting much. Perhaps because the space has been a revolving door of restaurants over the years. Maybe because I have high standards for Italian food. I’m not sure. But it was surprisingly good. So good I’m returning soon for dinner with friends. And although I didn’t photograph it, the chef gave me his recipe for Bourbon Ice Cream – you’ll be seeing that one day soon I promise!
