Restaurant Roundup: Bar Dough in Denver

Fancy Toast with Prosciutto, Ricotta, Cherries, and Basil
It’s no surprise that I gravitate toward Italian restaurants for special dinners out – this time for a friend’s 60th birthday. I’ve been taking guests on a food and wine adventure to Italy for ten years now! The next trip will be announced shortly, for early September 2019, so if you’ve always wanted to join in the fun, please let me know to add you to the interested list! Bar Dough is currently under the helm of Top Chef contestant Chef Carrie Baird, who turned a simple appetizer called fancy toast into a cult. We indulged for sure – but the rest of the food is outstanding and this is a restaurant to return to over and over.
Meatballs, (chuck, pork belly, & pancetta, crushed tomato, parmigiana, petite basil)
Spanish Octopus (yellow eye bean ribollita, lemon puree, crispy guanciale)
Black Truffle Colorado Potatoes (truffle aioli, mustard greens)
Mint Fettuccine (creamed spring ramps, asparagus, shallot, pistachio, grana padano)
Asparagus Risotto (grana padano)
Signore Bianco Pizza (stracciatella, parmigiano, creamed leek, red onion, green olive, fresno chile, fennel)
