Peel and roughly chop the pears and apples, then combine with cinnamon sticks and sugar in a saucepan. Bring just to a boil, then simmer on medium low until the fruit is soft and the liquid has evaporated a bit. Remove cinnamon sticks and mash or puree to desired texture.
Enjoy warm with pork or chicken, or cold as a dessert. May also be spooned over ice cream as a topping.
