May 7-10, 2009 – Charleston

May 27, 2009  •  Charleston, South Carolina, Travel

Charleston has been on my list to visit for years. I’ve always heard about how gorgeous the historic homes and gardens are, and frankly, what’s not to love about a city that has shrimp and grits as its most famous dish? So when my niece invited us for her graduation from the College of Charleston, I signed up! The Andrew Pinckney Inn – wonderfully restored old historic house that happens to sit smack in the middle of everything
Original Customs House I have no idea why people have put gum all over these telephone poles, but both poles on this corner are covered as high as you can reach!
Originally the market where slaves were sold, now full of local crafts

Sweetgrass baskets, woven onsite by craftspeople

The new bridge (they call them “connectors”) in Charleston – the longest cable-stay bridge in North America – which leads to the beaches
