I spent the most glorious weekend in Manhattan with my son apartment hunting earlier this month. The weeks leading up to the hunt had me completely stressed out, but we found a perfect first place on the upper east side.
The whole place is just a 16 x 12 studio, but it does have a nicely remodeled tiny galley kitchen with maple cabinets and a granite counter. This was actually the first place we saw and by noon my son had made up his mind and signed the lease which left the weekend free for enjoying the city.Dinner at The Gotham Bar and Grill was a highlight – duck breast with foie gras for me followed a wonderful heirloom tomato soup. And don’t you love when they give you free little bite sized desserts? The rest of the weekend we gawked at models in stores for Fashion Week parties, toured the South St. Seaport area, grabbed pizza in Little Italy, and had brunch on Sunday at a rooftop restaurant with views of the Empire State Building.I can’t wait to return in a couple of months to see him all moved in and to enjoy seeing the city through the eyes of a resident!
