It’s been over a year since I dined out, which means it’s been that long since I’ve had any restaurant meal to review for you. With both my boyfriend and I fully vaccinated, we finally felt secure enough to dine inside a restaurant, and picked a place in Winter Park near our mountain condo for our first meal out. The place was eerily deserted, but it seems more because we were there in mud season, the time between ski season and summer when the ski resort towns are empty. It made our meal that much more special as the host, the waiter, and the chef seemed to all be working just to please us.

I haven’t been to a restaurant that felt authentically Spanish since I was in Madrid, where my husband was hospitalized for two months. The food of that city sustained me during that difficult time, and while many might think it holds bad memories for me, it actually doesn’t. I fell in love with the food of this region during that time, and Paella’s pulled me back and reminded me of the wonderful people of Madrid who helped care for me.
Ceviche de Pescado – diced fresh fish, red onions, cilantro, avocado, jalapeño with special yellow Aji, lime and salt
Paellas offers a large selection of authentic Spanish tapas dishes as well as entrees, but then sprinkles in some fusion cuisine like this Peruvian style ceviche.
Paella Mediterranea – saffron rice with carrots, peppers, peas shrimp, clams, mussels, smoked sausage, beef, pork and chicken
There’s no way I could come to a Spanish restaurant called Paella’s and not order some paella, so we chose this one from the several varieties offered – it didn’t disappoint! This restaurant is a great spot to go with a few friends so you can order even more things to sample and share around the table. What a lovely night out – we’ll be back for sure!
