Restaurant Roundup: Tabernash Tavern

August 30, 2021  •  Restaurants

One of the best decisions I made during the pandemic was to purchase a condo up in the Colorado mountains. With all travel curtailed, I just needed somewhere to “get out of dodge”, and we settled on Fraser, the quirky little town of about 1300 people within walking distance of Winter Park. For the first six months, it was simply a respite. We joked that it was the same food, drinks, company, and TV binging, just with a different view – that’s the view of Byers Peak from our bedroom window. But when the summer of 2021 rolled around, with vaccines in our arms and restrictions finally lifting, we began venturing out to try the local restaurants. And while we’ve eaten many times at “dive” places like the Fraser Hot Dog stand, this was our first trip to Tabernash Tavern. If you blink when you go through the tiny, tiny town of Tabernash, you’ll miss this unassuming building. But once inside, you’ll be glad you came, as this is fine dining for certain!
