Restaurant Roundup: Cattivella

May 2, 2022  •  Restaurants

As someone who takes guests on foodie trips to Italy every year, people are always asking me what my favorite Italian restaurant in Denver is, which is always a hard question for me to answer. For one thing, many Italian restaurants in the US offer more Americanized versions of classic Italian dishes. It’s not that they are bad or wrong, just different from what I get in Italy. But also, I just find it hard to pick one and only one restaurant as a favorite as there are so many great chefs out there. Cattivella, run by Elisa Wiggins, is a perfect example.
While the Bucatini Amatriciana above may be different than what I get in Rome, it’s every bit as good. And the braised pork shank that my partner got when we dined there might have been one of the best renditions of this cut of meat I’ve ever had! Cattivella is worth a visit, and also worth visiting for the cooking classes and other events.
