apple salad with noosa yogurt olomomo pecans-1As a food blogger, I get asked frequently to try out new products and to blog about them. I rarely do that – simply because it’s so time-consuming to create a quality blog post with a recipe and photos. But when I am contacted by a company whose products or business philosophy really speak to me, especially when it’s a local Colorado company trying to establish themselves, then I’m happy to help.olomomo pecans-1Meet Olomomo, a nut company out of Boulder whose website proclaims: “About OLOMOMO – Where you get your ingredients. Where you make your home. How you value your customers. The way you treat the planet. This says a lot about who you are and the legacy you leave. We’re in this thing to do well, to do right and make a difference.” Don’t they sound like good people? On top of that, their nuts have unique flavors – their 5 pack almond assortment includes kettle roasted Chai Bliss Almonds (TM), Righteous Cinnamon Cayenne Almonds(TM), Cherry Vanilla Dream Almonds(TM), Mango Chipotle Zinger Almonds(TM), and dry-roasted Vim Vinegar & Sea Salt Almonds. I think all of those will be great snacks and I can’t wait to try them all. But I knew when faced with creating a recipe for their nuts would be the Maple Garam Masala Kettle-Roasted Pecans.olomomo pecans chopped-1I cook A LOT – for myself, for family, for catering events, as a chef educator for Cooking Matters, in cooking demonstrations and classes, and more. And sometimes, I just want to make something simple like this. Roughly chop those uniquely flavored pecans…apple salad with noosa yogurt olomomo pecans 1-1…and toss them with some diced apples and some Noosa honey yogurt and you have the most interesting – yet simple – side dish for brunch. Noosa is another great Colorado company – the yoghurt is made right on the farm where the cows produce the hormone free milk and they use local Colorado honey and seasonal fruit purees to make a delicious full fat yoghurt. (Concerned about eating full fat dairy? Read this to learn about new findings.)

Your guests will think you tinkered with the spices for hours to come up with the flavor – you’ll know it’s simply the spice mixture from the nuts mixing with the yogurt and coating the apples that makes it so intriguing. Get your Noosa yoghurt and Olomomo nuts today:
