Restaurant Roundup: Tavernetta

June 18, 2018  •  Restaurants

What happens to the popularity of a new restaurant when a restaurant critic has unflattering things to say about them? In the case of Tavernetta, absolutely nothing. And that’s a good thing. The most recent review of Tavernetta in 5280 Magazine was less than flattering, and IMHO, petty. This outpost from the fabulous group at Frasca is not to be missed. Sure you might have to eat at 5:15 like we did – that’s because the food is outstanding and it’s popular! Sure, if you linger more than 2-3 hours they might nudge you out – like Bobby Stuckey said to me when we were there, even the longest Puccini opera is over in 3 hours. The food is simply not to be missed – we gorged ourselves, and had trouble letting them clear the few remaining bites we couldn’t handle. I’ll be back to try the other ten things that were tempting me!

CARCIOFI – Artichoke, Crème Fraîche and HazelnutBURRATA – Trapanese Pesto, Breadcrumb and HerbsCAMPO DI FUNGHI – Stracciatella, Mushroom and Parmigiano-ReggianoPASTA SPECIAL – Truffles and Porcini MushroomsTORTELLINI – Rabbit Leg, English Pea and CarrotRIGATONI ALLA GRICIA – Pecorino, Guanciale and Red OnionQUAGLIA – Roasted Quail, Farro, Chickpea, Prosciutto and Olive
