Hey Kids – July is National Ice Cream Month!
July 18, 2012 • Desserts,
How did I miss the fast that July is National Ice Cream Month? Oh, that’s right, I’ve been busy getting a new knee! As I continue to rehab my way along – it’s all about the bend, I’ve found out – I thought I’d round up my very favorite ice cream recipes for you to try in what’s left of the month and the summer. If you’ve been wanting to make ice cream at home, now is the time to talk to mom and dad about getting an ice cream machine!
I make most all of my ice creams the French way, with a custard base using egg yolks. You can get the basic recipe here (omit the tarragon for the plain vanilla ice cream).
Gourmet Blends
S’Mores Ice Cream
Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream
Rocky Road Ice Cream
Coffee Ice Cream with Marshmallows and Chocolate Chips
Kid Friendly
Snickerdoodle Ice Cream
Dulce de Leche Ice Cream (serve it on a brownie!)
Creamsicle Ice Cream
Unusual Treats for Adults and Adventurous Kids
Salted Caramel Ice Cream
Buttermilk Ice Cream with Marcona Almonds
Ginger Ice Cream
Guinness Ice Cream
Rosemary Ice Cream (also good with tarragon)
Enjoy your summer and beat the heat with some fabulous homemade ice cream!
