July 27, 2008 – Copenhagen, Denmark

We quickly discovered as we went ashore in Copenhagen that our friend John had been to all of these cities exactly 40 years earlier in 1968 after graduating, something that would become somewhat of a joke over the course of the trip.

The boat trip around the city could not have felt better, given the unseasonably warm (mid-90s) weather and we cooled off while seeing the sights by water, including the gorgeous dome of Frederickskirken, one of the largest in Europe and in the same vicinity as the palaces of the royal family.
After the boat ride we had lunch (chicken club sandwich with curry mayo) at a dock-side pub in Nyhavn before continuing our journey through the city. We walked through the royal grounds and along the water back to our ship to get ready for dinner.
Here’s the menu:
- Caesar salad
- Corvinia on a crab and corn risotto with a lobster emulsion paired with a Puilly-Fusse from France
- Bananas Foster
