Farmers’ Market Summer Breakfast
August 23, 2010 • Breakfast, Fruit, Local Sources
I signed up for something new this year – a fruit share from Ela Family Farms. I’ve had a bad habit in recent years of forgetting to eat enough fruit, which is a shame considering how delicious the Colorado grown fruit is. I figured a CSA share would ensure I got my fill. I pick up my share at the Old South Pearl Street Farmers’ Market on Sunday mornings – one of my very favorite markets because of it’s compact space filled with families and great vendors. Yesterday the share from Ela included great yellow and purple plums, a selection of heirloom tomatoes, and incredibly sweet and delicious peaches.
I also bought some fresh goat cheese from Mini Moo so whipped up this very California or European type of breakfast when I returned. A nice smear of goat cheese on a couple of slices of my Irish Brown Soda Bread, drizzled with high quality extra virgin olive oil, and sprinkled with some cracked pepper and sea salt, alongside a sliced peach. Heaven on a plate!
