Homemade Pizza Sauce (is easy!)
I’ve been cooking like crazy – not for my own personal consumption, but for the project I signed onto with Prairie Grove Farms. It’s fun, and I enjoy that I am photographing the dishes along with developing the recipes. I created a grilled pizza recipe using their Sweet Italian Sausage, and because they want all natural recipes, I made my own pizza sauce. Little did I know how easy that would be and how yummy it would taste!
- 2 14-ounce cans diced tomatoes
- 1 6-ounce can tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Combine the tomatoes with the tomato paste, garlic powder, basil, oregano, and red pepper flakes in a medium saucepan. Cook, uncovered, for 15 minutes, and then puree the pizza sauce in a blender or food processor or using a stick blender in the pan. Refrigerate for up to a week, or freeze for up to 3 months.
