Grilled Figs with Blue Cheese

April 23, 2009 | Appetizers

I just returned from quite the adventure traveling to San Francisco – give me through the weekend and I’ll try to get everything posted to my travel blog so you can see all the sights, and more importantly, all the food I ate! In the meantime, here’s a fun appetizer recipe for breaking out your spring grill.

Category: Appetizer
Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook Time: 1 min
Total Time: 6 mins
Serves: 6
Ingredients
  • 6 whole fresh figs (or dried, re-hydrated in boiling water until soft)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 ounces blue cheese, crumbled
Instructions
  1. Cut figs in half lengthwise, and then grill over medium flame until heated through and slightly softened, about 1 minute. Mix together honey, orange juice and lemon zest and microwave for 20 seconds until honey is warmed and then drizzle over figs. Top with blue cheese crumbles.
